North Aurora hears plan for Oak-Randall businesses

NORTH AURORA — The village board heard plans this week for a development at Oak Street and Randall Road that could include a restaurant, gas station, car wash and video store.

The board approved of the concept plan but did not officially vote on it. The developer, Richmar Realty and Development, will seek further approval at a plan commission meeting in April, with hopes of beginning construction in mid-summer.

Developer Mark Sorrentino said a variety of businesses have shown interest in locating on the 16 acres at the southwest corner of the intersection. Depending on sales of the lots, businesses could begin opening in early 2007.

Trustee Max Herwig said he approves of the plans, which also include a small strip mall, a bank and office space.

"It'll be interesting to see how this really matures and what stores come in," he said.

Moose Lake subdivision

Construction on the final phase of the Moose Lake Estates subdivision could begin this spring pending a few minor details to be worked out between the developer and village staff.

Trustees are expected to approve the plans for 36 additional homes at the board meeting next week, said Building and Zoning Director DeWayne Williams.

Adam Dontz, vice president of Gladstone Homes, said he expects all homes in the upscale subdivision to be sold within the next 18 to 24 months. The homes start at $425,000, he said.
